The sad fact is if you can deliver on these, someone else will at a cheaper price. Okay, now that I scared you into reading this,  let’s look at bad SEO Hacks you need to break to make money. Ready?

3 Bad SEO Hacks You Need to Break To Make Money

1. Keyword Stuffing

Don’t pretend like you don’t know what this. We are all guilty of keyword stuffing. ALL OF US. Here’s how it works. You think if you rank for a certain keyword you will drive sales through the roof. I see that glimmer in your eyes. There’s no lying here. You’re in a safe place.

For awhile this tactic worked wonders. If you added enough keywords you were top dog in Google searches. But that was forever and a day ago. Now you have to write content for the sake of writing content. Don’t stress about keywords. Have a topic in mind and go for it.

A Better SEO Hack…

Now I’m not going to leave you hanging, a better SEO Hack you should pick up is adding images to the content you write and optimizing those. I know, you weren’t expecting tips in this article were ya? I’m giving away some doozies.

2.   Forgetting to Feed the Spiders and Bots

This one always gets me. You went through all this trouble to stuff your website with keywords but you never took the time to create a sitemap let alone submit it to directories. You think by hiding your tracks you’re safe. Or maybe you don’t know about this? Hmmm….

What is a sitemap you ask? It’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s a file that outlines your entire website. You share it with search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo so that they can easily crawl and index your site.

Why do they want to crawl and index your site you ask? Another excellent question. Your site doesn’t really exist in searches until it is indexed. Think of the web like a huge library. In order to get found, you need to be placed somewhere. A sitemap makes sure you’re in the right place.

Make sure every social media profile you have, every online program you use, everything has a link pointing back to your website. This is called back linking. The more links pointing back to your site the more link equity / juice your website gets. This helps with the domain, page and trust authority.

3. Trying to out Rank the Competition

Know they enemy, yes. But don’t ever -EVER try to be them. They have the data backing up their choices that made them a success. Yes, you can learn from them, but unless they hand you step-by-step what they did it will be a costly expense.

Instead of focusing on who they set up their page, where they go to increase brand awareness, what their messaging is you need to focus on your solution(s) and product(s). They can’t help you. In fact, they don’t really want to help you. Sorry, spoiler alert.

A Better SEO HACK…

You a fan of PPC Campaigns? Why not do a little research to find out your competitors top long tail keyword. Then launch a PPC Campaign going after their keyword and THEIR Brand Name. Position yourself as an alternative cost effect solution. It’s sneaky but works.
